Coolcation, summer 2026 holidays in Jermuk, Armenia

I heard about a new tourism trend in a French glossy magazine: coolcation. The term describes choosing to spend your holidays somewhere without scorching heat and overwhelming crowds of tourists. It seems that this year, I have unwittingly embraced the trend myself: instead of my usual European summer holidays, I chose fresh mountain air and a focus on health and wellbeing.

Rather than +40°C in stuffy cities, noisy beach clubs and overcrowded restaurants, I spent my days enjoying spa treatments at the high-altitude spa resort of Jermuk in south-east of Armenia. Located 2,100 metres above sea level, the resort offers a pleasantly cool climate, with temperatures staying below +20°C throughout my stay.
