La Pagode is one of those rare Paris restaurants that makes you want to dress up, take your time and enjoy the entire experience
A Secret Oasis in the Heart of Paris
Today, I want to share one of my favourite addresses in Paris – a place I consider a true oasis of calm, privacy and discreet luxury, in the very heart of the city.
La Pagode is also one of those places that makes you want to make an effort. Before coming here, I found myself wanting to dress beautifully, do my hair, put on a little more makeup than usual, not because you need to impress anyone, but because you want to feel perfectly in tune with your surroundings. That day, I chose an elegant vintage jacket.
There is something about the Belle Époque-inspired interiors, the discreet elegance of the palace hotel, the beautiful table settings and the atmosphere of a refined Parisian brasserie that makes you want to arrive looking your best. It is not about showing off, it is about feeling harmonious with the place and allowing yourself to become part of its atmosphere.

La Pagode is the restaurant at La Réserve Paris, a discreet palace hotel on Avenue Gabriel, just moments from the Champs-Élysées
And this is precisely what I love about La Pagode. It is one of those rare Parisian addresses where you can be walking through the lively streets of the city, surrounded by its usual energy, and then turn onto a quiet avenue and suddenly find yourself in an oasis of calm, privacy and understated luxury. Located in the Golden Triangle, it is difficult to imagine a more peaceful escape from the energy of central Paris.
There is something particularly special about La Réserve Paris. It is a palace in the truest sense of the word – intimate rather than imposing, luxurious without being ostentatious, and deeply rooted in the elegance of traditional French hospitality. La Pagode reflects this philosophy beautifully. Its atmosphere combines the refinement of a Parisian palace with an intimate, almost residential feeling. The setting is designed for privacy and contemplation, while the restaurant’s contemporary spirit remains connected to the grand traditions of French cuisine.

Unforgettable lunch at La Pagode
The experience begins with the wine. Of course, here you drink only Pagodes de Cos from Saint-Estèphe, one of the signature wines associated with Château Cos d’Estournel, the prestigious Bordeaux estate owned by La Réserve Paris owner Michel Reybier.
The service at La Pagode is impeccable without ever feeling intrusive. Every detail – from the table setting to the presentation of each dish – feels considered and beautifully executed. This is precisely what I love about a great palace restaurant: the feeling that nothing has been left to chance, while everything still feels effortless.
The cuisine is overseen by three-Michelin-starred chef Jérôme Banctel, whose approach at La Pagode is resolutely French, bringing together tradition, precision and the spirit of a great Parisian brasserie.

For anyone looking for a refined La Pagode restaurant in Paris, this is an address worth knowing
What I Loved from the Menu
For my starter, I chose white asparagus, served with an exquisite sauce. It was delicate, refined and full of flavour, exactly the kind of dish where the quality of the ingredients speaks for itself. Even the bread deserves a mention. Served with wonderful olive oil, it was one of those simple details that somehow becomes part of the pleasure of the entire meal.
For the main course, I chose Saint-Jacques, and they were absolutely exceptional: the texture, the sweetness, the subtlety. Here, everything was simply perfect.
And then came dessert.
I could not resist the Paris-Brest, one of those quintessential French desserts that feels particularly appropriate in Paris. It was delicious, beautifully executed and the perfect ending to an unforgettable lunch.

What makes La Pagode special for me is not simply the food.
It is the entire experience — the feeling of stepping away from the noise of Paris without actually leaving the centre of the city. It is the discreet luxury, the beautiful setting, the impeccable service, the wine, and the pleasure of sitting down to a truly French lunch in one of the city’s most elegant palace hotels. La Pagode is the kind of address I would recommend to anyone looking for something more than simply a good restaurant in Paris. It is a place for a long lunch, a beautiful conversation and a little pause from the city.
An oasis of calm, right in the heart of Paris.
